What does Luke 19:45 mean?

Jesus walks into the temple and immediately confronts the merchants and money changers who have set up shop there. This wasn't a spontaneous outburst: the temple had become a marketplace where people were buying and selling animals for sacrifices and exchanging currency, which meant the poorest worshippers were being charged inflated prices and treated unfairly. By driving them out, Jesus was reclaiming the temple as a sacred space meant for prayer and encounter with God, not profit, and he was defending those who were being financially exploited in God's own house. His actions communicated that he cared deeply about justice and the integrity of genuine worship.
