What does Luke 19:35 mean?
When Jesus approached Jerusalem for the last time, the crowd wanted to honor him as a king, even though they didn't fully understand what kind of king he would be. Since they had no royal saddle or fine trappings, ordinary people did something beautiful: they took off their own cloaks and draped them over the young donkey to create a makeshift seat of dignity. It was a spontaneous gesture of respect and welcome, made from whatever they had on hand. This moment shows how people can express their deepest reverence with simple, personal sacrifice, and it reveals something about Jesus too, that he accepted honor not through force or displays of power, but through the genuine love of those around him.
