What does Luke 18:5 mean?
In this parable, an unjust judge finally agrees to help a widow not because he cares about justice or her suffering, but simply because she won't leave him alone. He's exhausted by her persistence and gives in just to get some peace. Jesus uses this frustrating, almost comical moment to make a powerful point: if even an uncaring judge will eventually listen to someone who keeps asking, how much more will God, who actually loves us, respond to our persistent prayers? The widow's refusal to accept "no" becomes a model for faithful prayer, not because we need to wear God down (he's not reluctant to help us), but because our steady, believing persistence shows we truly trust that he will answer. Sometimes the hardest part of prayer isn't asking, it's continuing to ask and believe when answers don't come immediately.
