What does Luke 17:32 mean?

When Jesus says this, he's referencing the moment when Lot's family fled the destruction of Sodom, with strict instructions not to look back. Lot's wife disobeyed, turned around to gaze at what they were leaving behind, and was caught in the devastation. Jesus uses her story to warn his followers about spiritual distraction and divided loyalty, suggesting that clinging to the old life we're called to leave behind can cost us everything. He's not being harsh, but honest: sometimes moving forward in faith means fully letting go, even when we're tempted to hold onto what we once knew.
