What does Luke 16:31 mean?
Jesus is speaking here about something many of us experience: people often don't change their minds or hearts simply because of miraculous evidence. He's saying that if someone refuses to listen to God's clear guidance (represented by Moses and the prophets, which are the scriptures), then even witnessing something as extraordinary as resurrection won't convince them. This reflects a deeper truth about faith and resistance. Sometimes we think that if God would just do something big enough or obvious enough, we'd finally believe or change. But Jesus suggests the real barrier isn't usually a lack of evidence, it's a lack of willingness to listen. We have access to God's word and wisdom right now. The invitation to trust and follow is already before us. It's a humble reminder that faith isn't primarily about getting proof for intellectual doubts, but about opening our ears to hear what God is already saying to us.
