What does Luke 15:30 mean?
The older brother here is letting his resentment pour out, throwing the prodigal son's past failures in his father's face. He's upset that his father is throwing a celebration for someone who squandered the family's resources on reckless living, while the obedient son gets nothing special. This captures something painfully real: when we've done everything "right," watching someone who's failed get welcomed back with joy can feel deeply unfair.
