Luke 14:6
“They couldn’t answer him regarding these things.”
What does Luke 14:6 mean?
After Jesus asked the religious leaders whether it was lawful to heal on the Sabbath, they stayed silent, unwilling to admit the obvious answer that saving a life matters more than following a rule. Their silence reveals something important: sometimes we refuse to speak up not because we lack understanding, but because acknowledging the truth would challenge what we've built our identity around. Jesus leaves space for that silence, but it speaks volumes about what happens when we're more committed to defending our positions than to seeing people helped.
