What does Luke 14:13 mean?
Jesus is describing what real generosity looks like in God's eyes. Instead of throwing a banquet for people who can repay you with invitations to their own fancy dinners, he's saying to invite those who have nothing to offer you in return. The poor, disabled, and vulnerable were often invisible in society, pushed to the margins, yet Jesus insists they belong at your table. When you give without expecting anything back, you're reflecting God's own character—he loves us not because we earn it, but simply because we're his. This kind of radical, unrewarded generosity is what transforms us and reveals where our hearts really are.
