What does Luke 13:18 mean?
Jesus is about to tell a parable, and he's inviting his listeners (and us) to think carefully about what God's kingdom actually looks like. He's asking genuine questions, not rhetorical ones meant to show off, but rather drawing people in to discover something important together. What follows in the next verses are two simple comparisons, mustard seeds and yeast, that help us see how God's kingdom grows in surprisingly quiet, hidden ways rather than through obvious displays of power.
