What does Luke 12:34 mean?
Jesus is describing a simple but profound truth about how our lives actually work: what we care about most shapes where our attention, energy, and affection naturally flow. He's not saying we should feel guilty about having desires or priorities, but rather inviting us to notice the connection between what we value and who we're becoming. If we find ourselves constantly stressed about money, status, or possessions, our hearts follow that worry and become anxious. If we pour ourselves into relationships, growth, or serving others, our hearts grow in those directions too. The verse suggests that transformation often works backwards from what we expect: we don't just change our hearts through willpower, but by consciously choosing where to place our treasure first, and our hearts will follow naturally.
