Luke 11:22
βBut when someone stronger attacks him and overcomes him, he takes from him his whole armor in which he trusted, and divides his plunder.β
What does Luke 11:22 mean?
Jesus is speaking here about what happens when a stronger force confronts someone relying on their own power. The image is of a well-armed person who feels secure in their defenses, only to meet someone with greater strength who strips away that false confidence entirely. He's not just talking about physical battle, though, but about spiritual reality: when we lean on our own resources, abilities, or willpower alone, we're vulnerable to being overwhelmed by forces larger than ourselves. The point is that whatever armor we trust in (our plans, our strength, our control) can be taken from us in an instant. It's a sobering reminder that real security doesn't come from anything we can accumulate or defend on our own.
