Luke 11:13
“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?””
What does Luke 11:13 mean?
Jesus is making a striking comparison here: if even flawed, imperfect people naturally want to give good things to their own children, then God, who is perfectly loving, will absolutely give us what we truly need. The "Holy Spirit" he mentions isn't some distant reward, but the presence and power of God working in our lives, strengthening us and guiding us toward what's good. He's saying that asking God for his Spirit, for his help and presence, isn't asking for something beyond what God eagerly wants to give. This is meant to encourage us that when we genuinely turn to God, we're not bothering him or asking for something he's reluctant to provide, but rather asking for exactly what his loving heart wants to pour out.
