What does Luke 10:20 mean?
Jesus is telling his followers not to get caught up in the thrill of spiritual power or impressive results. The seventy disciples had just returned excited because demons obeyed them, but Jesus redirects their joy toward something deeper and more lasting: their secure place in God's kingdom. The shift he's asking for is really about priorities. Success and impact can fade or become sources of pride, but being known by God and claimed as his own is permanent and truly worth celebrating. It's a gentle reminder that what matters most isn't what we accomplish or control, but that we belong to God.
