Luke 10:14
“But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you.”
What does Luke 10:14 mean?
Jesus is speaking to the cities where he performed miracles but whose people rejected him. Tyre and Sidon were ancient cities known throughout Scripture for their wealth and idolatry, yet Jesus is saying they'll face a lighter judgment than these towns that witnessed his power firsthand and turned away. He's not excusing those pagan cities, but emphasizing that those given greater light and opportunity carry greater responsibility for how they respond. It's a sobering reminder that privilege and access to truth aren't neutral things, they increase what we're accountable for.
