What does Luke 1:54 mean?

God's promise to help Israel wasn't a new thing when Mary sang these words, but a continuation of what God had been doing since Abraham. Mary is remembering that God doesn't abandon his people or forget his commitments, even when circumstances look hopeless or dark. "Remember mercy" might sound strange, as if God could actually forget, but it's really about God acting on the compassion he's always had, showing up in tangible ways when people need him most. Whether you're waiting for God to move in your own life or wondering if he's still there, this reminds us that helping his people and staying faithful is woven into who God is.
