Luke 1:46
“Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord.”
What does Luke 1:46 mean?
Mary's words here capture what it feels like when your whole being responds to God's goodness. "Magnifies" doesn't mean God becomes bigger, but rather that Mary's soul—her deepest self—is enlarged and lifted up by recognizing God's greatness and what he's doing in her life. She's expressing complete wonder and joy at being chosen for something she never expected, which helps us understand that genuine praise comes from a place of genuine amazement at God's faithfulness.
