Luke 1:2
“even as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word delivered them to us,”
What does Luke 1:2 mean?
Luke is explaining how the gospel story reached him and his readers. He's saying that people who actually saw Jesus and heard him teach passed their accounts down, and those accounts eventually made their way to Luke, who is now writing them down for us. This verse reminds us that the gospel isn't based on distant legend or guesswork, but on real people who witnessed Jesus' life and were willing to stake their lives on what they'd seen. Luke wants us to know that what we're about to read comes from trustworthy sources who were there.
