What does Leviticus 9:8 mean?
Aaron is stepping into his role as the first high priest, and this moment marks the beginning of his official duties. Before he can offer sacrifices on behalf of the people, he must first deal with his own sin by making an offering for himself, which shows that even leaders need God's forgiveness and cleansing. This reflects a truth that still holds: we can't help others spiritually from a place of undealt-with guilt or distance from God.
