What does Leviticus 9:11 mean?
In this moment, Aaron is completing the sacrificial offerings that dedicate him as the high priest. He's burning the leftover parts of the sin offering, the meat and skin that weren't used in the sacred ritual, in a place set apart from the community. This practice of burning certain animal remains outside the camp served both a practical and spiritual purpose: it kept the holy tabernacle area clean while also emphasizing that some things given to God were completely consumed and returned to him, not kept for human use.
