What does Leviticus 7:36 mean?

This verse describes part of God's instructions for maintaining the priesthood in ancient Israel. When Aaron and his sons were set apart as priests through anointing (a sacred ritual marking them for God's service), God also established that they would receive a portion of the sacrificial offerings brought by the people. This wasn't payment for their work, but rather God's way of saying the priests belonged to him and would be sustained by the community's worship. The word "forever" means this arrangement was meant to continue as long as the priesthood itself existed, creating a lasting covenant between God, the priests, and the people.
