““‘But if the sacrifice of his offering is a vow, or a freewill offering, it shall be eaten on the day that he offers his sacrifice; and on the next day what remains of it shall be eaten:”
What does Leviticus 7:16 mean?
When someone brought a special gift-offering to God out of a promise they'd made or simply out of generosity, the rules were a bit different than for regular sacrifices. Instead of having to eat it all in one day, they had two days to finish it, which made the offering more practical and less wasteful. This flexibility acknowledged that not every offering was urgent or required the same strict timing, and it allowed families to actually enjoy and share the meat rather than scrambling to consume it immediately. It's a small but telling detail about how ancient worship included both reverence for God and reasonable care for the people involved.
