Leviticus 6:7
“The priest shall make atonement for him before Yahweh, and he will be forgiven concerning whatever he does to become guilty.””
What does Leviticus 6:7 mean?
When someone brought an offering to make things right with God, the priest's role was to present it on their behalf, standing in that sacred space between the person and God. The beautiful promise here is that once this act of atonement happened, the person wasn't trapped by their guilt anymore—they were genuinely forgiven. This reflects an understanding that sin creates a real separation that needs real repair, but also that God has provided a way for that repair to happen. For us today, even though we don't have priests and temple offerings, the principle still echoes: guilt doesn't have to be permanent, and there are ways to make peace with God when we've done wrong.
