Leviticus 5:10
“He shall offer the second for a burnt offering, according to the ordinance; and the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his sin which he has sinned, and he shall be forgiven.”

When someone couldn't afford a costly sacrifice for an unintentional sin, God's law allowed them to bring two birds instead. The priest would offer one as a burnt offering following the proper ritual, and this act—combined with sincere acknowledgment of wrongdoing—would restore the person's standing before God.
