“He shall offer from it as his offering, an offering made by fire to Yahweh; the fat that covers the innards, and all the fat that is on the innards,”
What does Leviticus 3:14 mean?
In the ancient worship system, God gave specific instructions about which parts of an animal sacrifice belonged to him and which could be eaten by the worshiper. The fat (called "suet") was considered the richest, most valuable part of the animal, reserved entirely for God as a sign of honor and devotion. By giving up the best and most desirable portion, the person making the offering demonstrated that they were willing to surrender what mattered most to them. This wasn't about the literal smoke rising to heaven, but rather about the posture of the heart: putting God first even when it costs something real.
