What does Leviticus 27:26 mean?
In ancient Israel, the firstborn animals held special significance as belonging to God. This verse clarifies that you couldn't make a vow to dedicate your firstborn livestock to the temple or temple service, because they were already considered God's property by law. The rule meant people couldn't use their firstborn animals as a special offering to fulfill a vow (as they could with other possessions), since God had already claimed them.
