Leviticus 27:20
βIf he will not redeem the field, or if he has sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed any more;β
What does Leviticus 27:20 mean?
Once someone dedicated their land to God in the tabernacle system, they had the option to buy it back by paying the assessed value plus a penalty. This verse describes what happens if that opportunity passes: if the original owner refuses to redeem it, or if they've already sold it to someone else, the land becomes permanently dedicated to the sanctuary and cannot be reclaimed later. It's a reminder about the weight of choices and timing. In the spiritual life, there are moments when we can turn back or make things right, but if we keep putting it off or actively move in another direction, those windows can close. The good news is that God's grace operates differently in the New Testament, but the principle here speaks to something true about human responsibility and the importance of not indefinitely postponing what we know we should do.
