Leviticus 26:23
““‘If by these things you won’t be reformed to me, but will walk contrary to me;”
What does Leviticus 26:23 mean?
God is speaking here to the people of Israel about what happens when they persistently ignore His guidance and choose to do things their own way instead. The word "reformed" means turned around or redirected, so He's essentially saying: "If you won't listen to Me and keep turning back toward Me, but instead keep walking away from what I'm asking of you..." This is part of a longer passage about consequences that follow disobedience, and it's worth noting that God frames it as a pattern of choices, not a single mistake. The tone matters here, too. Before laying out those consequences, God had offered blessings for those who would listen. He's not angry or surprised by human stubbornness. He's being clear about how cause and effect work in our relationship with Him: when we repeatedly reject His direction, we experience the natural results of being separated from His care and guidance.
