Leviticus 25:6
“The Sabbath of the land shall be for food for you; for yourself, for your servant, for your maid, for your hired servant, and for your stranger, who lives as a foreigner with you.”
What does Leviticus 25:6 mean?
During the sabbath year (when the land rested and wasn't cultivated), whatever grew naturally on its own belonged to everyone, not just the landowner. God made sure that slaves, hired workers, foreigners, and the poor could eat from the land's bounty without needing to buy or beg. This reveals something beautiful about God's design: rest and provision weren't luxuries for the wealthy alone, but gifts meant to sustain the whole community. It's a reminder that when we step back from constant productivity and control, there's often enough for everyone if we're willing to share.
