What does Leviticus 22:19 mean?
When ancient Israel brought animals to the altar, God wanted them to give their very best, not leftovers or damaged goods. A flawless male animal represented wholehearted devotion and honor, showing that the worshipper genuinely valued their relationship with God. This requirement reflected a principle that still speaks today: when we offer ourselves to God, whether through our time, talents, or attention, we're invited to give thoughtfully and generously rather than whatever's easiest or cheapest. The point wasn't about making God difficult to please, but about expressing that some things in life are worth our best effort.
