Leviticus 21:22
“He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.”
What does Leviticus 21:22 mean?
A priest who had a physical blemish or defect was excluded from performing the temple's sacred duties, but this verse reassures him that he wasn't cast out entirely. He could still share in the priests' portion of the sacrificial meals, receiving both the most holy offerings (like the sin offering) and the regular holy offerings. The point is tender: God's provision and belonging weren't contingent on physical perfection, and a person's worth wasn't diminished by their limitations. Even when someone couldn't do the main work, they remained part of the community and received their sustenance from God's house.
