Leviticus 19:2
““Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘You shall be holy; for I, Yahweh your God, am holy.”
What does Leviticus 19:2 mean?
God opens this instruction with a direct call to his people: whatever else they do, they are to pursue holiness, to set themselves apart for him. The reason isn't because of rules for rules' sake, but because God himself is holy, and those who belong to him are meant to reflect that character in their everyday lives. This wasn't a call only for priests or the especially devoted. It went to the entire congregation, meaning every person in the community was invited into this pursuit.
