What does Leviticus 13:53 mean?
When something shows signs of decay or contamination, the natural fear is that it will keep spreading and destroy everything. This verse describes the priest's careful inspection to see whether mold or mildew in clothing has stopped growing or remains confined to one area. If it hasn't spread through the fabric's structure (the warp and woof are the interlocking threads that make cloth), there's still hope the garment can be salvaged. This detail matters because ancient communities couldn't afford to discard belongings casually, so the inspection determines whether something is lost forever or can be cleaned and used again.
