What does Leviticus 13:22 mean?
In ancient Israel, skin diseases were taken seriously both for health and spiritual reasons, so priests served as inspectors to protect the community. When a condition got worse or spread across the body, it was declared "unclean," which meant the person needed to be isolated and undergo specific rituals for healing and restoration. The word "plague" here simply means an affliction or disease, not necessarily something supernatural. The point was practical: spreading infections needed attention, and the person wasn't cast off forever, but rather given a clear process to follow until they recovered and could rejoin their community.
