What does Leviticus 10:3 mean?
Aaron had just lost his two oldest sons in a sudden, devastating judgment from God for offering unauthorized fire before the Lord. In the midst of his grief, Moses reminds him of something essential: God's holiness isn't negotiable or subject to our feelings about it, even when we're suffering. When we draw near to God, we encounter his absolute purity and power, and he will be honored in that encounter whether we understand it or not. Aaron's silence here isn't cold resignation, but a kind of surrender, a grief-stricken acceptance that God's character stands firm even when our hearts are breaking.
