What does Lamentations 3:61 mean?
The speaker here is pouring out a desperate complaint to God, reminding him that the insults and schemes aimed at the speaker haven't gone unnoticed—they're all on the record with the Lord. There's something both vulnerable and urgent in this: the person is essentially saying, "God, you know what's happening to me. You've heard every cruel word and seen every plot." In the context of Lamentations, which was written after Jerusalem's destruction, this cry comes from someone in deep suffering who feels forgotten. The repetition of "you have heard" is a way of holding God to account, not to accuse him of indifference, but to remind both himself and God that nothing escapes God's attention.
