What does Lamentations 3:17 mean?
This comes from the middle of Lamentations, where the writer is pouring out raw grief over Jerusalem's destruction. The speaker feels so distant from peace and contentment that they've almost forgotten what good things felt like—not that prosperity disappears from the world, but that pain has made it impossible to remember or access. It's one of the most honest descriptions in Scripture of what it feels like when suffering becomes all-consuming, when the weight of it crowds out even the memory of better times.
