What does Judges 7:23 mean?

After Gideon's tiny army of three hundred routed the massive Midianite camp through a surprise night attack, the surrounding Israelite tribes heard the commotion and rushed to join the chase. What had seemed like an impossible victory against overwhelming odds suddenly drew reinforcements once the hard part was already done. This captures something very human: people are often braver and quicker to act when they see others already succeeding. The men who now pursued the fleeing enemy witnessed God's power firsthand through Gideon's faithfulness, and that testimony motivated them to finish what had been started. It's a reminder that when we're faithful with what we've been given, however small, others often find courage and hope to join in God's work.
