Judges 7:2
“Yahweh said to Gideon, “The people who are with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel brag against me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’”
What does Judges 7:2 mean?
God tells Gideon that his army of 32,000 soldiers is actually too large, because if they win, Israel will think they did it by their own strength rather than by God's power. What seems like a disadvantage, a smaller force, is actually what God wants, because it makes the victory clearly His work and not human achievement. This teaches us that God often works through our weakness and limitation, not despite it, because that's when His faithfulness becomes unmistakable.
