Judges 5:3
““Hear, you kings! Give ear, you princes! I, even I, will sing to Yahweh. I will sing praise to Yahweh, the God of Israel.”
What does Judges 5:3 mean?
Deborah, the judge and prophet of Israel, is calling out to the powerful people of her time to pay attention to what she's about to share. She's announcing that she herself will lead the song of praise, stepping forward with boldness to celebrate what God has done. This comes after a military victory where God protected Israel, and Deborah wants the rulers to understand that this success came through God's power, not their own strength or strategy. Her willingness to sing openly, especially as a woman in a culture where men typically held authority, shows her deep confidence in God and her desire to make sure everyone recognizes who deserves the credit for their deliverance.
