Judges 4:1

What does Judges 4:1 mean?
After the judge Ehud died, the Israelites slipped back into the patterns of disobedience and wrongdoing that had plagued them before. This wasn't a one-time mistake, but rather a repeating cycle: they'd cry out when things got hard, God would send a deliverer, they'd experience peace and faithfulness for a while, then forget about God as soon as their leader was gone. The verse captures that moment of turning away again, setting up the story of Deborah and Barak that follows, when God would need to rescue them once more. It's a sobering reminder that knowing better doesn't automatically mean we live better, especially when life gets comfortable and the immediate memory of God's help starts to fade.
