What does Judges 2:10 mean?
When the generation that had experienced God's mighty acts firsthand passed away, a new group grew up without those formative memories. They'd heard the stories, maybe, but hadn't witnessed the plagues, the parted sea, or the conquest of the promised land themselves. This disconnect meant they didn't have that deep, lived understanding of who God was and what he'd done for their people, which set the stage for the spiritual drift described in the chapters that follow. It's a sobering reminder about how faith gets passed down (or doesn't). Each generation has to make God's story their own, not just inherit it as a family legend. When we're far removed from moments that shaped our faith, whether that's our own spiritual turning points or our community's history, we can easily lose touch with what those moments really meant. That's why so many faith communities emphasize keeping memories alive and helping people understand not just what happened, but why it matters.
