What does Judges 16:7 mean?
Samson is caught in a painful trap of his own making. He's been sharing intimate secrets with Delilah, a woman he loves, not realizing she's working for his enemies who desperately want to capture him. When she presses him to reveal the source of his legendary strength, he gives her a false answer, claiming that seven fresh, undried cords could weaken him. What makes this moment tragic is how willingly he's walking into danger. Samson has already been warned by God about his situation, yet he keeps testing the boundaries, seemingly convinced he can manage the risk. He treats this like a game, perhaps thinking he can stay one step ahead.
