What does Judges 11:28 mean?

Jephthah had tried everything to avoid war with the Ammonites, even sending messengers to explain why their territorial claims were unfounded. But the Ammonite king refused to hear him out, choosing confrontation over conversation. This moment captures how easily conflicts escalate when one side won't listen, when pride or determination to fight overrides the chance for peace. Sometimes the other person simply won't receive what we're offering, no matter how reasonable or earnest we are, and we have to accept that limitation while knowing we did our part.
