What does Judges 11:21 mean?

This verse describes a military victory that secured Israel's territory east of the Jordan River during their early settlement period. Sihon was a powerful Amorite king who had refused to let the Israelites pass through his land peacefully, so conflict became necessary for their survival and the fulfillment of God's promise to give them a homeland. The passage credits God with the victory, reflecting how Israel understood their military success as connected to God's faithfulness and protection rather than their own strength alone. It's a moment when the Israelites moved from wandering to actually taking possession of the land they'd been promised.
