Judges 10:7
“Yahweh’s anger burned against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the children of Ammon.”
What does Judges 10:7 mean?
When Israel turned away from God to worship other gods, they experienced the real consequences of that choice. God's anger here reflects his grief over their unfaithfulness, and "selling them" into enemy hands means he withdrew his protection and allowed neighboring peoples to oppress them. This wasn't arbitrary punishment but a natural result: when God's people reject him, they lose the shield that kept them safe. The good news embedded in this difficult verse is that it sets the stage for their cry for help, which eventually brings deliverance through judges God would raise up to save them.
