Jude 1:5

Now I desire to remind you, though you already know this, that the Lord, having saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who didn’t believe.

What does Jude 1:5 mean?

Jude is reminding his readers of something they already understand: God saved the Israelites from slavery in Egypt with power and mercy, yet many of those same people later rejected him in the wilderness and faced serious consequences. He's drawing a parallel to warn against taking God's grace for granted or turning away from faith. The point isn't that God is harsh, but that receiving God's deliverance is just the beginning of a faithful relationship, not the end of one. Jude wants to shake his community awake to the seriousness of their choices, especially as false teachers were creeping in.
