What does Joshua 8:34 mean?

After the Israelites defeated the city of Ai, Joshua gathered everyone, young and old, to hear God's law read aloud in its entirety. This wasn't a punishment or a dry legal proceeding, but a renewal of the covenant, a reminder that God's instructions came with both blessings for obedience and consequences for turning away. By reading everything, including both the rewards and the warnings, Joshua was being honest with the people about what following God actually meant. It's a beautiful picture of someone who takes God's word seriously enough to speak it all, not just the parts people want to hear.
