What does Joshua 8:27 mean?

When the Israelites conquered Ai, God had given Joshua specific instructions about what could be taken and what couldn't. Unlike their complete destruction of Jericho (where everything went to the treasury), here they were allowed to keep the animals and valuables for themselves, but only within God's boundaries. This detail matters because it shows the Israelites actually following orders carefully, even when doing so meant restraint rather than total plunder. It's a quiet moment of obedience, a reminder that trusting God sometimes means knowing when to take what's offered and when to hold back.
