What does Joshua 8:20 mean?
The Israelites had set up an ambush at Ai, and when the men of the city turned around and saw their own city burning behind them, they realized they were trapped. Panic replaced their confidence, and they found themselves caught between the advancing Israeli forces in front and the knowledge that their home was being destroyed behind them.
