What does Joshua 7:8 mean?
Joshua is devastated after his army suffered a shocking defeat at Ai, and his words here capture the anguish of someone watching everything fall apart. Israel had just witnessed God's incredible power at Jericho, so this sudden loss feels like a betrayal of God's promise to be with them. His cry, "what shall I say," reflects the deepest human confusion when circumstances seem to contradict what we thought God had committed to do.
